CECI is a nonprofit organization established in 1998 to provide financial support for the education of outstanding students from the developing world as they pursue their studies in journalism and communications.
Since its inception, CECI has provided scholarship support for more than 50 students of limited financial resources, accepting three to five students each year. Each selection is made after a vigorous review process, conducted in conjunction with The American University of Paris: seeking students with outstanding potential as leaders in the media and communications field when they return to their home regions.
Most of our scholarship students return to leadership roles in countries where the media faces special challenges and opportunities. We strongly believe that support for such students is an important investment in our global future. Exposing young people of high potential but limited financial resources to the international media scene is at the core of The Center’s mission.
